Access Control

Whatever your premises you occupy, the term access control refers to the restricting of unauthorized persons. You may choose to have a physical access control system in the form of a human (Guard, CPO or Employee) which can be designed to be more secure by adding a mechanical means such as locks and keys. Access control systems should provide a secure solution but still allow free flowing authorisation to those that need to work efficiently.

Electronic access control uses computers to solve the limitations of mechanical locks and keys. CTR Services employs the following systems:

Key and Lock combined with PIN code entry:

One of the most common and inexpensive types of unit is the keypad access control system. This works from an entry code and a terminal in which you enter the code onto a series of numbered push buttons, or touch-sensitive pads. This then releases the lock mechanism via a control unit inside the entrance.

Proximity Readers:

This access control technology is contact less and doesn’t have to come into physical contact with the reader (average range is 100mm) this makes the usage efficient and fast as well as reducing the wear and tear of the mechanisms.

Magstripe Readers:

Known as swipe cards or discs are widely used and there are many styles and sizes to choose from. This unlike the proximity reader requires contact to release the locking mechanism.

Smartcard Readers:

Smartcards can be contact or contact less and store other information such as employee information or pertinent information relating to work.

Biometric Readers:

Allows access to authorised user’s through their unique human characteristics. The human characteristics range from the users eye retina, hand, face or fingerprint in an electronic memory.

With all of these systems correct policies and procedures need to be in forced in order to make them effective. CTR Services will provide full training and policies and procedures to meet your access requirements.

Secure Minds - CTR Security Consultancy Service!
CTR Services limited has been providing unique security consultancy services to such companies as T-Mobile, Vodafone, Ericsson, Orange and even Sega Systems UK. Our clients have always claimed our services are unparallel in that we listen to what the issues and concerns are and develop unique cost effective solutions to meet the security needs in a timely and discreet manner, whilst remaining very cost efficient. Our Secure Minds service has many stages which are all explained on this webpage. The main point we try to maintain with all our clients is our DMR policy which translates to Design, Manage and Respond. This focus on our work enables us to conduct a deep Threat and Risk Assessment to outline the vulnerabilities to then establish a Security Plan which in turn allows us to project manage the security implementation in accordance of time and budget.

Security Consultancy - Case Studies!
Theses case studies outlines our unique consultant service: CASE STUDY 1 – LAO’S PDR – Multinational Company – The Company wished to move from Thailand to Veintchen in Laos to cut costs of production. The problems outlined by the threat and risk assessment were classified as moderate to severe and this was mainly due to the fact that the country had no UK Embassy and that the operation was to be built in a very unstable and poverty stricken province. Our recommendation was to liaise with local officials and military departments to gain some form of communication. Once we had agreed the support of the local government we then looked to gain sympathy of the local community. We achieved this by implementing, building and developing the town fire department which gave us the hearts and minds of the local town and surrounding villages. Whilst the secure structure was being built from the fences inwards we then looked to employing and training the locals to work for various aspects of the company. The project from the initial concept to an operational standing at 80% capacity was completed within 14 months. CASE STUDY 2 – UK – Multi National Software Company – The Company had internal problems with software that was in the early stage of production being screened prior to release date on UTube. Our efforts were to look at all internal policies and procedures for handling sensitive material. During the threat and risk assessment it was apparent that there were many flaws within the security policy and that the company had no security governance in place. With the recommendations we made the company is now able to account for all media that is pre-production and this process makes all of the media accountable.
